Why Join Cub Scouting

Cub Scouting builds life skills, character, and respect — through outdoor adventures, community service, skill-building activities, and earning badges. It gets kids outdoors and face-to-face with friends their own age, and builds real confidence along the way.

Safe Adventure

Every adult leader completes Youth Protection Training. The pack maintains a strict no-hazing, no-bullying policy, respects youth privacy, and uses the buddy system at all activities.

Who Can Join

Cub Scouting is open to both boys and girls, kindergarten through 5th grade. Pack 447 is open to students from any school, not just Gomes. Parents are welcome and encouraged at every meeting — at least one parent typically sits with their scout during den meetings to help them work through requirements.

How to Get Involved?

Pack 447 is entirely run by parent volunteers — no prior Scouting experience required. You can join the Pack Committee, coordinate an event or program, or serve as a Den Leader or Cubmaster. Every leadership role gets council-provided training, paid for by the pack.

How It Works

Your scout joins a den — a small group in the same grade, meeting monthly (Gomes MPR can be made available for den meetings) to complete adventures.

Completing Adventures is how scouts develop character, citizenship, leadership, and personal fitness — and how they earn their rank patch each year.

All the dens together make up the pack, which also gathers monthly (typically the 3rd Thursday 6.30pm-8pm) for games, recognition, and fun.

How Much Does Scouting Cost?

There are two components of the fee:

Annual Pack dues: $105, which covers Pack registration, pack T-shirt, required uniform badges, Payment is via Zelle (treasurer@pack447.net).
Annual BSA Dues: ~$234 covers BSA registration, a Scout Life subscription, and online access to the handbook.

Some events carry additional costs — e.g., overnight camping like Wente Family Camp —

Uniform: Required uniform (shirt, cap, neckerchief, and slide) is a separate one-time cost.

How to Join?

Submit the Pack 447 contact form: Contact Form
Register with BSA: Create an account on the official BSA website, complete the application, and pay BSA fees.
Once registered, you'll be added to the pack's email distribution list and den WhatsApp group.
